Eleven personnel of Pakistan’s armed forces and 40 civilians, including women and children, were martyred in unprovoked Indian strikes during a recent military escalation, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Tuesday.
According to ISPR, the Indian armed forces launched “reprehensible and indiscriminate attacks” on the night of May 6 and 7, 2025, targeting civilian areas. The strikes claimed the lives of 40 civilians—among them seven women and fifteen children—while injuring 121 others, including ten women and twenty-seven children.
In response, the Pakistan Armed Forces carried out precision retaliatory strikes under Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, conducted as part of a broader national response named Marka-e-Haq.
While defending the motherland, eleven personnel of Pakistan’s military embraced martyrdom and seventy-eight others sustained injuries. The fallen heroes include six from the Pakistan Army and five from the Pakistan Air Force.

The statement warned that any future attempt to violate Pakistan’s sovereignty would be met with a “swift, full-spectrum, and decisive response.”
COAS Visits Wounded Soldiers and Civilians
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Rawalpindi to inquire after the injured. He individually met wounded soldiers and civilians, lauding their resilience and reaffirming the military’s commitment to their long-term care and rehabilitation.
“Our civilians’ and soldiers’ sacrifices form the bedrock of Pakistan’s security. The nation stands united in honouring their valour,” said the Army Chief.
General Munir emphasized that no hostile design can shake the resolve of Pakistan’s Armed Forces. He described the joint national and military response under Marka-e-Haq as a defining chapter in the country’s history.
