The government is likely to jack up the prices of all petroleum products by upto Rs 15/litre to be effective during the second half of on-going month of April 2023.
Sources in oil sector said that the ex-depot sale price of petrol is estimated to go up by Rs 14.77 per liter, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) is expected to increase by 30 paisa per liter. Additionally, Kerosene oil is expected to increase by Rs 8.96 per liter and light diesel oil (LDO) by Rs 3.36 per liter for the next fifteen days of April.
According to sources, the current price of petrol is Rs 272 per liter, and if the proposed increase of Rs 14.77 per liter is approved, the ex-depot sale price of petrol will stand at Rs 286.77 per liter during the second half of April. Similarly, the ex-depot sale of HSD is expected to stand at Rs 293.30 per liter, and the ex-depot sale price of Kerosene oil is expected to be available at Rs 189.25 per liter. The ex-depot sale price of LDO is also expected to increase by Rs 3.36 per liter, bringing it to Rs 286.93 per liter during the last fifteen days of April.
It is worth mentioning that if the government increases petroleum prices then it is likely to cause unrest among the already burdened masses ahead of Eid ul Fitr.
