ISLAMABAD: In a move likely to burden consumers ahead of the winter season, the government has hiked the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) by Rs 7.31 per kg. The new prices, effective from October 1st, have been confirmed by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) through an official notification.
With this increase, the price of LPG has gone up from Rs 243.99 per kg to Rs 251.30 per kg. The cost of a domestic cylinder, which is widely used for household purposes, has surged by Rs 86.28, bringing the new price to Rs 2,965.38 for a standard 11.8 kg cylinder.
In comparison, the price of a domestic cylinder in September was Rs 2,879.10. The price adjustment comes as part of the government’s regular monthly review, with the new rates applicable throughout October.
The timing of the increase, just before the onset of winter, has raised concerns among consumers who depend heavily on LPG for heating and cooking during the colder months. The price hike could strain household budgets, especially in rural areas where LPG is a common fuel source.
As the winter season approaches, households relying on LPG are likely to feel the impact of these increased costs.
