In a rare show of unity, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Türkiye, and other Muslim-majority nations — alongside the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) — have jointly condemned the Israeli Knesset’s recent approval of two draft laws aimed at asserting “Israeli sovereignty” over the occupied West Bank and illegal settlements.
In a collective statement, the countries described the Israeli legislative move as a “flagrant breach of international law” and a direct violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which denounces all measures intended to alter the demographic or legal status of Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem.
The statement, endorsed by Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Malaysia, Nigeria, Libya, The Gambia, Djibouti, and Palestine, reaffirmed that Israel has “no sovereignty over any part of the occupied Palestinian territory.”
The coalition of states also welcomed the International Court of Justice (ICJ) Advisory Opinion issued on October 22, 2025, which reaffirmed Israel’s obligations under international humanitarian law — including ensuring access to essential supplies for Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. The Court further declared Israel’s claim over East Jerusalem as “null and void”, while condemning attempts to obstruct UNRWA operations.
Calling on the international community to act decisively, the statement warned against Israel’s “unilateral and illegal policies”, which threaten regional peace and stability. It urged global powers to pressure Israel to halt its expansionist agenda and respect the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
The joint declaration concluded with a renewed call for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, describing it as the only path toward a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.
