Staff Report
ISLAMABAD: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Syrian government to help combat forest fires in Syria’s Latakia Governorate.

The agreement, formalized in the presence of Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed Alsaleh, focuses on providing essential supplies, equipment, and machinery to bolster firefighting efforts in the region, particularly in the town of Kassab.

The initiative aims to enhance rapid fire response capabilities by equipping and supporting field firefighting teams with technical and logistical resources. As Syria enters the peak of summer — a period of heightened fire risk — the support is expected to significantly improve civil defense preparedness across the country.

Dr. Ahmed Qazziz, Syria’s Deputy Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, emphasized the strategic importance of this partnership. He noted that beyond equipment supply, the collaboration also focuses on training personnel and strengthening overall civil defense readiness to tackle fires effectively.

This agreement reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s broader humanitarian commitment to aiding countries in crisis and supporting brotherly and friendly nations worldwide. KSrelief’s involvement in Syria marks another step in its ongoing efforts to assist vulnerable populations facing emergencies and natural disasters.
