Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced a significant discovery of gas and condensate at the Bitrism East-1 exploratory well, located in District Khairpur, Sindh.

In a notice sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) and London Stock Exchange (LSE), OGDCL — operator of the Bitrism Exploration License with a 95% working interest, alongside Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) — confirmed the discovery after drilling down to 3,800 meters in the Sembar Formation.

The Bitrism East-1 well, spudded on June 30, 2025, underwent two Drill Stem Tests (DSTs) in the Lower Goru Formation. Both the Massive and Basal Sands yielded substantial hydrocarbon flows, with combined production potential estimated at 22.5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas and 690 barrels of condensate per day (BCD) at a choke size of 32/64″.

OGDCL said the discovery will help reduce Pakistan’s reliance on imported fuels, strengthen indigenous production, and contribute toward bridging the country’s widening energy supply-demand gap.
“This marks another success in the Bitrism Exploration License and will support Pakistan’s energy security while enhancing our hydrocarbon reserves base,” the company stated.
The disclosure was made under Section 96 of the Securities Act, 2015 and Clause 5.6.1(a) of PSX regulations.
