World Bank Delegation Arrives in Pakistan to Discuss $40 Billion Aid Package

ISLAMABAD: A high-level delegation from the World Bank, including executive directors, has arrived in Pakistan for crucial discussions with Prime Minister, Finance Minister, and other senior officials. The delegation will also engage with business leaders, educators, and civil society representatives.

$40 Billion Country Partnership Framework in Focus
The visit follows the approval of a 10-year Country Partnership Framework (CPF) last month, through which the World Bank has committed $40 billion in financial support to Pakistan. As part of the visit, the delegation will also tour various provinces to assess development needs.

The CPF aims to address six key development priorities, including:

Reducing child stunting
Mitigating climate change impacts
Key Development Goals Under CPF
The World Bank’s objectives under the new framework include:
✔ Boosting Pakistan’s tax revenue to over 15% of GDP
✔ Expanding renewable energy capacity by 10 gigawatts
✔ Providing quality education to 12 million students
✔ Ensuring healthcare access for 50 million people

Furthermore, the framework seeks to:

Ensure clean water and sanitation for 60 million people
Strengthen food security for 30 million individuals
Expand contraceptive access to 30 million women
Disaster Management & Climate Resilience
The Country Partnership Framework will also focus on disaster preparedness, aiming to protect millions from floods, natural disasters, and climate-related challenges. It is expected to benefit 75 million people across Pakistan.

The World Bank delegation’s visit marks a major step in advancing Pakistan’s economic and social reforms, with discussions set to shape the future of the country’s development strategy.
