ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Yahya Afridi has announced a reshuffling of the Case Management Committee of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, with the Chief Justice himself appointed as the head of the six-member committee.
The newly formed committee will include:
Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan
Justice Shahid Bilal
Justice Shafi Siddiqui
Additional Registrar Supreme Court
Director of IT Supreme Court
This reshuffling comes in the wake of the recent appointment of seven new judges to the Supreme Court. These new appointments have led to the formation of respective benches, with Chief Justice Yahya Afridi presiding over a 9-member larger bench last Friday. During that session, the bench heard several cases, including dismissing four bail cancellation petitions, while the newly appointed judges took on ten cases.
Revised Seniority List Following New Appointments
After the addition of new judges, the Supreme Court has also restructured its seniority list. According to the updated list, the seniority ranks are as follows:
Chief Justice Yahya Afridi remains the most senior judge
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah follows as second most senior
Justice Munib Akhtar ranks third
Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan takes the fourth spot
Justice Jamal Mandokhel follows as the fifth senior-most judge
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Ayesha Malik, Justice Athar Minallah, and Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi occupy the next seniority positions.
Other key rankings include:
Justice Shahid Waheed at ninth
Justice Musarat Hilali at tenth
Justice Irfan Saadat at eleventh
Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan at twelfth
