ISLAMABAD: The 773rd Urs Mubarak of the revered Sufi saint Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar commenced today, with a grand ceremony marking the beginning of three days of spiritual and cultural festivities. The event was inaugurated by Awais Qadir Shah, Speaker of the Sindh Assembly, and Riyaz Shah, Sindh Minister for Auqaf, at the saint’s shrine in Sehwan Sharif. The dignitaries offered a chadar and floral tributes at the shrine, praying for the prosperity and security of the nation.

Devotees from across Pakistan, including from Punjab, have begun to gather in Sehwan Sharif in large numbers to participate in the event. The streets of Sehwan are filled with the energetic and soulful tune of “Damadam Mast Qalandar,” a traditional hymn that symbolizes devotion to Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.

Tight Security Measures
Given the large turnout, the authorities have made stringent security arrangements to ensure the safety of all visitors.

Cultural Celebrations and Programs
In addition to the spiritual aspect, the Urs will also feature traditional Sindhi cultural games such as Malh Malakhra, a wrestling competition, and a musical program at the Shahbaz Auditorium in the evening. The event will also include Sugharn Ji Kacheri, a cultural musical gathering, further enhancing the festive spirit.

The Urs, an annual event, attracts millions of devotees from around the world to seek blessings and commemorate the legacy of one of South Asia’s most celebrated Sufi saints.
