Houthi militia blamed for attack on Taibah electricity station in Madinah

The Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen has said that an attack on the Taibah electricity distribution station in Madinah damaged one power transformer but left the electricity network unaffected.

Coalition Official Spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Malki said a terrorist attack targeted the station at 5:11 AM on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

He said evidence collected by the competent authorities, including the wreckage of the drone used in the attack and findings from an after-action review, confirmed the involvement of the Terrorist Houthi Militia in planning and carrying out the attack.

Major General Al-Malki said one power transformer was taken out of service as a result of the attack, while the electricity network remained unaffected.

He said the targeted facility is a civilian electricity distribution station that provides electricity to the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.

According to the spokesperson, the attack represents a continuation of what he described as the extremist militia’s attempts to target the Two Holy Mosques and deliberately provoke millions of Muslims around the world through targeting Makkah and Madinah.

Major General Al-Malki said the Coalition would continue taking and implementing measures to deter the Terrorist Houthi Militia, protect the Two Holy Mosques and ensure the safety of pilgrims in Makkah and Madinah.
