The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) has announced the appointment of Abdullah Saleh Alshebeili as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Global Audit Committee Center based in Washington, D.C.
Alshebeili, who currently serves as CEO of the Saudi Authority of Internal Auditors and Secretary-General of the Arab Confederation of Internal Auditors, becomes the first Saudi national to hold this prestigious global position.
According to the IIA, the appointment reflects the growing international recognition of Saudi Arabia’s leadership in governance, transparency, and internal auditing. It underscores the global professional community’s confidence in Saudi expertise and highlights the Kingdom’s increasing contribution to advancing professional standards and building human capacity in the field of internal auditing.
The IIA commended Alshebeili’s “outstanding contributions” to the development of audit frameworks and his extensive regional experience in establishing and operating professional organizations. The decision also acknowledges the efforts of the Saudi Authority of Internal Auditors in strengthening internal audit practices and improving the performance and accountability of audit committees across the region.
The Global Audit Committee Center serves as an international reference body for regulating audit committee work and related legislation. It provides guidance, standards, and best practices to help organizations enhance corporate governance, risk management, and financial transparency.
