Monitoring Report
The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, has strongly condemned reported Houthi attacks targeting Mecca, Medina, Taif and Jeddah, warning that strikes near Islam’s holiest sites threaten civilian safety and violate their sanctity.

In a statement, the OIC chief expressed particular concern over the reported targeting of Wadi al-Maghmmas, near the sacred plain of Arafat, with a ballistic missile, describing the incident as evidence of disregard for the sanctity of religious sites and the safety of civilians.

He warned that the continuation of such attacks could have grave consequences and called on the Islamic world to adopt a united, firm and responsible position to deter the Houthi movement and bring an end to what he described as its criminal practices.

The OIC secretary-general reiterated the organisation’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and supported all measures taken by the kingdom to safeguard its security, sovereignty, territorial integrity and the lives of its citizens and residents.

He stressed that any violation of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites affects the entire Muslim Ummah and requires a firm international response.

The OIC chief also called for urgent action to stop the attacks and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
