Petrol Price Crosses Rs382, Diesel Rises to Rs389.80 per Litre

ISLAMABAD: Petrol has crossed Rs382 per litre while high-speed diesel has climbed to Rs389.80 after the government raised their prices by 88 paisa and 53 paisa, respectively, adding to the fuel expenses of motorists and transport operators.

According to the Petroleum Division, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the ex-depot prices under the government’s petroleum pricing mechanism. The new rates are applicable on October 21, 2026.

The price of motor spirit (petrol) has increased to Rs382.02 per litre from Rs381.14, while high-speed diesel (HSD) has risen to Rs389.80 per litre from Rs389.27.

The latest increase adds to the pressure on household budgets at a time when consumers are already facing high transportation and living expenses. Motorists will pay more to refuel their vehicles, while transport operators may face higher operating expenses.

Diesel is widely used by buses, trucks and other commercial vehicles. Any sustained increase in its price can put pressure on freight and public transport costs, potentially affecting the prices consumers pay for goods and services. The actual impact, however, will depend on how transporters and businesses respond to the revised rates.

The Petroleum Division attributed the adjustment to global events, citing changes in Platts benchmark prices, premiums and incidentals that feed into Pakistan’s fuel import-cost calculations.
