The OGDCL Exploration Directorate marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its latest generation of G&G acquisition equipment by Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Ahmed Hayat Lak, during a ceremony held on October 16, 2025, at the OGTI facility in Islamabad.
In line with the MD/CEO’s directives, the senior management is committed to innovation, safety, and operational excellence. In this spirit, the Exploration Directorate is dedicated to adopting the latest state-of-the-art technology.
The Head of Exploration, Dr. Khalid Amin Khan, briefed that OGDCL has been a pioneer in digital seismic data acquisition in Pakistan since 1971. The new seismic acquisition system, procured from world leaders M/s Sercel, France, offers advanced autonomous recording, enhanced quality control, and a capacity exceeding 200,000 channels, enabling high-resolution data capture in challenging environments.
The Mud Logging Units, supplied by leading Chinese manufacturer M/s CTEC, feature next-generation technology, including AI-powered anomaly detection, reliable gas detection, and real-time data transfer, ensuring improved accuracy and situational awareness during drilling operations.
The new Wireline units, from M/s Baker Hughes, USA, are equipped with the latest acquisition systems compatible with advanced logging tools, ensuring reliable and efficient open and cased hole logging services with superior data quality.
In his remarks, the MD/CEO commended the Exploration team for their efforts to enhance operational efficiency and innovation. He emphasized that the new equipment represents a major step forward in the company’s commitment to adopting advanced technologies to explore hydrocarbon reserves with improved precision and productivity. The Head of Exploration highlighted that this technology will significantly strengthen the department’s capacity to deliver reliable results and maintain the company’s leading position in exploration excellence.
