The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned attacks by the Houthi group targeting Makkah and the Madinah region, expressing full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for measures to protect the holy sites and civilians.
The OIC General Secretariat said the attacks, along with the group’s ongoing aggression against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, were a serious violation of the sanctity of the holy sites and mosques and had provoked the sentiments of Muslims around the world.
The General Secretariat said such attacks also instilled fear among innocent civilians and threatened civilian infrastructure in the Kingdom.
It stressed that attacks against holy sites, mosques and civilian infrastructure were unacceptable and contrary to Islamic values as well as international norms, principles and law.
The OIC said violations of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites could not be tolerated and called for measures to deter those responsible and prevent further attacks against these sacred places.
The General Secretariat reaffirmed the OIC’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for measures taken by the Kingdom to deter the attackers, safeguard the holy sites and protect the lives of Muslims.
It also expressed support for Saudi Arabia’s efforts to protect its security and sovereignty in the face of continued attacks.
