Cabinet through circulation approves establishment and operation of the University of SCO

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet has approved the establishment and operation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) University through circulation.

This university will be established in Pakistan with the cooperation of eight member countries of SCO including Russia, China and India.

According to sources, approval was taken through circulation from the members of the federal cabinet on the summary of the federal education ministry.

In 2006, it was decided to establish the university in the light of the intergovernmental agreement. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs handed over the contract for the establishment and operation of SCO University to the Federal Ministry of Education.

According to this agreement, scientific and technological cooperation between SCO member states will be promoted through online consortium. And, after the approval of the federal cabinet, joint training of high-level professionals will be started in specific areas. Similarly, joint training will be started with Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. Further necessary steps will be taken to ensure India’s participation in the online consortium.
