Staff Report
ISLAMABAD:
The staffers of Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) are allegedly involved in taking power of attorneys from the landlords of two new sectors (F-12 & G-12) of the federal capital in the name of relatives and friends as well.
Well-informed sources told that six FGEHA’s officials including Naib Tehsildar Zakir Hussain, who is also needed to National Accountability Bureau (NAB), have obtained power of attorneys from landlords of Sector F-12 and G-12 of the federal capital in the name of their relatives and friends and started process of payment of billion of rupees.
As per details, FGEHA had approved payment of Rs 72 lakh, 33 thousand and five hundred per kanal to the landlords as price of their land. However, government officials and their favourite investors exerted their influence to convince them to collect Rs 30 lakh to Rs 40 lakh per kanal and obtained power of attorney from these landlords in the name of their relatives and friends.
Taking notice of such complaints of the affecttee landlords, federal housing minister, Tariq Bashir Cheema has stopped Director General, FGEHA from payment of Rs 76 crore.
Sources said that a plan to get approximately more than Rs 10 billion worth benefits through the power of attorney was made. However, federal housing minister Tariq Bashir Cheema and Secretary Housing Imran Zaib while issuing order to directly make payments to landlords instead of holders of power of attorney have ordered inquiry against the responsible officers.
“Naib Tehsildar Zakir Hussain and six other officials of FGEHA are considered very close to Waseem Bajwa, DG, FGEHA,” said the sources.
Available documents disclosed that FGEHA has stopped original landlords from selling their own property through the power of attorney besides advising these original landlords to submit applications with Deputy Commissioner Land Acquisition Collector.
Surprisingly, the process of obtaining power of attorney from the original landlords of the said two new sectors i-e F-12 & G-12 of the federal capital was continued from the last one year and the decision to give payments on power of attorney was taken without getting approval of the Law Department.
Sources said that initially, the names of Naib Tehsildat Zakir Hussain, Director Land, Dr Satesh, Director Admin, Aneela, Director State Kazim Shah, former Director Saima Sabah and Director Housing Israr Cheema have come on surface. And, action against the responsible will be taken after final inquiry, said sources.
It is also learnt from sources that a plot situated in G-13 sector of school was allegedly transferred to a close one of an important personality of the PM Office in violation of the agreement during the tenure of a former DG, FGEHA, Waseem Bajwa. They said that Housing Ministry has ordered inquiry into the matters related to transfer of school plot and out sourcing of the facilitation center in FGEHA. They said NAB Lahore on 2nd march, 2021 had written a letter to DG, FGEHA against Naib Tehsildar of FGEHA, Zakir Hussain and informed that Zakir Hussain was on escape after the cancellation of interim bail from Lahore High Court and he 9Zakir Hussain) was required to NAB for investigation. Similarly, if Zakir Hussain was present in FGEHA then action against Zakir Hussain should be taken and immediately inform NAB Lahore about the action taken against him, said sources.
