Heavy rain lashed Islamabad and adjoining areas on Monday, disrupting routine life and triggering warnings of flash flooding in streams and nullahs across northern Pakistan.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), downpours were reported across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir, with heavy showers and hailstorms at some locations. The Met Office said rain accompanied by windstorms and thunderstorms could damage weak infrastructure, including mud houses, boundary walls, power poles, billboards, vehicles, and solar panels.

The PMD also cautioned travelers and tourists to remain alert and plan journeys in line with the prevailing weather conditions. It noted that adverse weather could affect daily activities, especially in vulnerable and flood-prone areas.

The forecast indicates thunderstorms, windstorms, and hailstorms in KP, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, and Punjab over the next 24 hours. Other parts of the country are likely to remain dry.
