The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) has reinforced its commitment to global counter-terrorism efforts by participating in the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Week in New York, while holding high-level meetings aimed at expanding international cooperation.
As per details, the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) is participating in the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Week at the UN Headquarters in New York, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening international cooperation against terrorism and emerging security threats.
The IMCTC delegation is led by Secretary-General Major General Mohammed Al-Moghedi under the directives of Saudi Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Council of Defense Ministers of the coalition, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.
Organized by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT), the annual forum serves as one of the world’s leading platforms for international dialogue on counter-terrorism. The event brings together representatives of UN member states, senior officials, security experts and international organizations to review implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy and discuss responses to evolving global terrorist threats.
Speaking on the occasion, Major General Al-Moghedi said the coalition’s participation reflects its role as an active international partner committed to enhancing global security through cooperation, coordination and the exchange of expertise.
He said IMCTC continues to strengthen joint efforts across its four strategic pillars: ideological initiatives to counter extremist narratives, strategic communications, combating terrorist financing, and military cooperation aimed at enhancing operational capabilities among member states.
Al-Moghedi emphasized that the coalition seeks to unify capabilities, promote knowledge sharing and develop coordinated responses to terrorism by working closely with international partners and regional stakeholders.
On the sidelines of the forum, the IMCTC Secretary-General held a series of high-level bilateral meetings with Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Abdulaziz Alwasil, Acting United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism Alexandre Zuev, and Director of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Centre Mauro Miedico.
The meetings focused on expanding institutional cooperation, strengthening partnerships and exploring new avenues for collaboration in capacity building, information sharing and implementation of international counter-terrorism initiatives.
The participation reflects the coalition’s broader efforts to contribute to international peace and security by supporting coordinated action against terrorism while reinforcing partnerships with the United Nations and other global institutions.
