The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has distributed 570 food baskets in Sheberghan, the capital of Afghanistan’s Jowzjan Province, providing critical relief to vulnerable communities amid ongoing humanitarian challenges.

According to KSrelief, the assistance benefited 570 families—around 3,420 individuals—including returnees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and orphans. The distribution was carried out under the 2026 Food Security and Emergency Relief Project in Afghanistan, aimed at addressing acute food insecurity and meeting the immediate nutritional needs of at-risk populations.
Local residents and beneficiaries welcomed the support, noting that food assistance remains a lifeline for families struggling with limited income opportunities, displacement, and the lingering effects of conflict and economic instability. The food baskets typically include essential staples designed to sustain households for a defined period, helping ease the burden on families facing shortages.
KSrelief officials said the latest distribution reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continued commitment to humanitarian assistance for the Afghan people. Through KSrelief, the Kingdom has been actively supporting Afghanistan with food aid, health services, shelter, and emergency relief to help alleviate suffering and improve living conditions for the most vulnerable segments of society.
The Sheberghan distribution is part of a broader, nationwide effort by KSrelief to strengthen food security across Afghanistan, particularly in regions hosting displaced families and returnees. Humanitarian agencies warn that millions in the country remain food insecure, underscoring the importance of sustained international support.
