Shahbaz-led governemnt’s fuel price stability efforts have advanced as the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority cleared Rs38 billion in claims for oil marketing companies under a government-approved mechanism.

As per details, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has disbursed around Rs38 billion to 34 Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) under the Price Differential Claims (PDC) mechanism, as part of measures to maintain stable fuel prices in the country.

The payments have been made in accordance with the Federal Government’s policy to keep petroleum products at affordable levels for consumers, ensuring that price fluctuations in the international market do not directly burden the public.

OGRA stated that the disbursement has been executed through a formalized mechanism, developed with the concurrence of the government, which focuses on improving transparency and efficiency in the claims settlement process. The system provides a structured framework for verification, allowing timely release of funds against eligible claims.

The regulator highlighted that prompt settlement of PDCs is critical for maintaining liquidity within the oil marketing sector, enabling companies to sustain supply operations without disruption. Industry sources view the development as a positive step toward reinforcing financial discipline and operational continuity in the downstream petroleum segment.

By streamlining the process, OGRA aims to minimize delays and ensure that only verified claims are processed, strengthening oversight while facilitating smoother financial flows within the sector.

The authority reiterated its resolve to continue supporting government initiatives aimed at stabilizing petroleum prices and ensuring that the interests of consumers, as well as industry stakeholders, remain protected.
