Pakistan has urged the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take decisive action in implementing a two-state solution for Palestine, calling it a top priority for the Muslim world.

Addressing an OIC meeting at the United Nations headquarters in New York, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause. He emphasized that an independent Palestinian state is essential for lasting peace in the Middle East.

Demand for Ceasefire and Humanitarian Assistance
Dar condemned grave human rights violations in Gaza, stressing that immediate diplomatic efforts are required to ensure a ceasefire and facilitate Gaza’s reconstruction. He urged global stakeholders to halt Israel’s military aggression in Lebanon and the West Bank and called for urgent action against Israeli hostilities.

“The only sustainable solution to the Palestine issue is one that aligns with United Nations resolutions,” he stated, urging Israel to uphold ceasefire agreements and end the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for diplomatic initiatives aimed at securing Palestinian rights.

Opposition to Forced Displacement and Support for Saudi Initiative
Dar strongly opposed any forcible displacement of Palestinians, calling on the international community to ensure uninterrupted humanitarian aid for Gaza. He also called for immediate action to halt Israeli violence and forced evictions in the West Bank.

He endorsed Saudi Arabia’s position, which asserts that the creation of a Palestinian state is essential for lasting peace. Additionally, he urged the OIC to push for full UN membership for Palestine and take collective action to make the two-state solution a reality.

Regional Security Concerns and Counterterrorism Efforts
Discussing broader security concerns, Dar highlighted the increasing terrorist threats from Afghanistan, where extremist elements are conducting cross-border attacks on Pakistan. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm stance against terrorism and welcomed the France-US mediated peace initiative launched in November.

His remarks come amid growing international calls for a comprehensive peace agreement in Gaza and an end to Israeli hostilities, reinforcing Pakistan’s proactive stance on the Palestinian issue.
