Saudi Arabia Calls Southern Yemeni Factions to Riyadh Conference for Political Dialogue

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has forally welcomed a request by the President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, to convene a comprehensive conference in Riyadh aimed at bringing together all southern Yemeni factions to discuss just and sustainable solutions to the southern cause.

In an official statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday, Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its position that the southern cause is a just issue with deep historical and social dimensions, emphasizing that dialogue within the framework of a comprehensive political solution remains the only viable path toward its resolution.

The statement referred to an earlier position articulated by the Saudi Foreign Ministry on December 30, 2025, which underscored the importance of inclusive political engagement in addressing Yemen’s internal challenges, particularly those related to the south.

Acknowledging the close and brotherly relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Yemen, the statement said the current regional and domestic circumstances require collective efforts to safeguard Yemen’s unity, security, and stability. In this context, Saudi Arabia expressed readiness to facilitate an appropriate and constructive environment for dialogue among all southern stakeholders.

The Kingdom formally called upon all southern Yemeni factions to actively participate in the proposed Riyadh conference, with the objective of developing a comprehensive vision for just solutions that address the southern cause and fulfill the legitimate aspirations of the southern people.

Saudi Arabia reiterated that the initiative is part of its continued efforts to support Yemen’s political process, promote national reconciliation, and contribute to long-term peace and stability in the country.

The statement was issued on January 3, 2026, corresponding to 14 Rajab 1447 in the Islamic calendar.
