Consumers Likely to Get 20 Paisa Relief in June Electricity Bills

Electricity consumers in Pakistan may see stable June 2026 bills with up to 20 paisa per unit relief, as quarterly tariff cuts and monthly fuel cost adjustments offset each other despite fuel price pressure and RLNG constraints.

Electricity consumers across Pakistan are likely to receive up to 20 paisa per unit relief in June 2026 electricity bills as quarterly tariff reductions and monthly fuel adjustments balance out overall pricing pressures.

The quarterly adjustment is expected to reduce electricity prices by Rs1.93 per unit, while the April monthly fuel cost adjustment shows an increase of Rs1.73 per unit.

According to official details, this near-offset between the two adjustments has created a marginal net relief effect for consumers in the upcoming billing cycle, subject to approval by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).

The quarterly adjustment alone is expected to provide around Rs65 billion relief over three months, reflecting changes in generation costs and system efficiencies.

The April fuel adjustment initially carried a projected impact of Rs5 to Rs6 per unit due to global fuel price pressures and RLNG constraints, but operational measures significantly reduced this burden.

System improvements, better generation planning, and optimized fuel mix contributed to containing costs and limiting the pass-through to consumers.

Authorities also indicated that around Rs38 billion in potential additional burden was avoided through improved dispatch and management strategies.

Industry sources said that the outcome reflects ongoing efforts to stabilize electricity tariffs amid global volatility.
