ISLAMABAD: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has sought gas price increase of Rs 730.39/MMBTU while Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) wanted Rs 391.69/MMBTU with the start of upcoming fiscal year 2023-24.
As per details, the people should be prepared for the pressure of inflation as two sui companies (SNGPL & SSGCL) have sought from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to approve massive gas price hike from 1st July 2023. And, if OGRA approves the requested gigantic hike in gas prices then approximately Rs 356 billion will be collected from the gas consumers during the next financial year.
Gas companies need further increase in gas tariff to cover shortfall while the gas price have already been increased by 112% since January 1, 2023.
OGRA will hear SNGPL’s application on March 13 in Lahore and the hearing on SSGCL’s application will be held on March 20, 2023 in Karachi.
