Diesel Gets Rs7.76 Cut, Petrol Cheaper by Rs3.40 for November 3

ISLAMABAD: The government has reduced the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs7.76 per litre and petrol by Rs3.40 for November 3, offering temporary relief to motorists, transporters and farmers under the daily petroleum pricing mechanism.

According to the revised prices announced by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the ex-depot price of diesel has been reduced from Rs402.96 to Rs395.20 per litre, while petrol will now cost Rs374.51 per litre against the previous price of Rs377.91.

The revised prices will remain applicable for November 3, 2026, with the next price determination scheduled for November 4 under the daily pricing mechanism.

The reduction in diesel prices is expected to provide some relief to the transport and agriculture sectors, which rely heavily on the fuel for goods transportation, public transport, farming operations and irrigation.

Trucks, buses, tractors, tube wells and other agricultural machinery largely depend on diesel, making its price an important component of transportation and food production costs.

The Rs3.40 per litre reduction in petrol prices will also provide some relief to motorcyclists and small-car owners, although the saving for individual consumers will remain relatively modest.

The latest cuts come as households continue to face pressure from rising living expenses, including electricity bills, food prices, education costs and transportation expenses.

However, the one-day applicability of the revised prices means consumers and businesses cannot count on sustained relief. Another price determination on November 4 could bring further changes under the daily petroleum pricing mechanism.

Frequent changes in fuel prices also complicate financial planning for transporters, farmers and small businesses, which have limited capacity to absorb sudden increases in operating costs.

While the diesel reduction could help ease some transportation and agricultural expenses, the short-lived relief is unlikely to make a significant difference to the overall cost of living unless lower prices are sustained.
