Following Pakistan’s lead, Saudi Arabia commits $1.2 billion in economic aid to Yemen

In a huge show of unity and dedication, Saudi Arabia which is assisting Pakistan has announced its gift of $1.2 billion in economic support to the Yemeni government, as the country grapples with economic issues and a serious humanitarian crisis.

Responding to Yemen’s appeal for assistance to manage its budget deficit, the aid is targeted at strengthening the country’s economy, offering relief to its suffering population, and ensuring food security.

The considerable financial aid underlines the Kingdom’s continuous commitment to strengthening Yemen’s security, stability, and development.

Yemen’s Finance Minister, Salem bin Breik, expressed sincere gratitude for the large contribution, emphasizing its importance in attaining economic stability and satisfying the needs of inhabitants throughout several governorates. He also complimented Saudi Arabia’s decades-long practice of providing development and economic aid.

The funding will cover vital expenses such as salaries and wages, while also addressing the critical issue of food security in Yemen, underlining Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to assisting Yemen through difficult times. Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, praised Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting Yemen’s constitutional legitimacy. He praised the Kingdom’s efforts to alleviate human suffering, rebuild state institutions, and strive for long-term peace, stability, and growth in the country.
