ISLAMABAD: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has achieved a significant decrease in road accident deaths in the Kingdom by 35% during the past five years, after the number of road accident deaths decreased from 9311 in 2016 to 6651 in 2021, as announced by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The Saudi achievement mainly contributes to realizing the global objective of reducing road deaths by (50%) by the end of the UN Second Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030.
This achievement corresponds with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, in the implementation of the directives of the Saudi leadership and its unlimited support for the efforts of the concerned authorities in the Ministerial Committee for Traffic Safety.
The Kingdom has developed a methodology for following up on the strategic performance maturity indicators by setting annual targets that directly impact the maturity indicators to achieve the approved annual strategic target for reducing deaths per 100,000 people.
