Cabinet approves to clear four containers despite the imposition of ban

ISLAMABAD: Despite the ban, the federal cabinet through circulation of summary, has approved clearing four containers of vehicles and spare parts in the name of Afghan Transit Trade.

According to the sources, the Ministry of Commerce has sought permission from the Federal Cabinet to clear transshipment of four containers of vehicles and spare parts for the needs of UNHCR in Afghanistan. And, the federal cabinet has given its permission through summary circulation.

It is worth mentioning here that in the past, the Ministry of Commerce had also recommended the Federal Cabinet to get the authority to exempt containers from the ban, but the Federal Cabinet had rejected the proposal to give the Ministry of Commerce the authority to exempt the containers from the ban.

According to the sources, the goods of most of the containers cleared in the name of Afghan transit are sold in Pakistan and the Ministry of Commerce does not have any effective solution on how to stop the smuggling of spare parts.
