ISLAMABAD: In a bid to enhance bilateral relations and cultural cooperation, the federal cabinet has approved to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Sports Cooperation with the Russian Federation.
Additionally, the governments of Kuwait and Pakistan have drafted an agreement in the field of Culture and Art. The agreements aim to promote sports, preserve cultural heritage, and foster literary ties between the nations.
Under the MoU on Sports Cooperation, both Pakistan and Russia have expressed satisfaction with the proposed clauses and content, considering them appropriate for the interests of both countries. This agreement will pave the way for closer collaboration in sports, including joint seminars, conferences, and exchange programs, aimed at enhancing cultural understanding through sports initiatives.
Furthermore, the draft agreement between the Government of the State of Kuwait and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the field of Culture and Art has received positive feedback from the Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA). The PNCA has recommended additional provisions to be included, such as the exchange of dance ensembles and mutual participation in cultural festivals. PNCA’s endorsement highlights the commitment to cultural diplomacy and meaningful exchanges between the two nations.
The National Heritage and Culture Division has also welcomed the opportunity to strengthen literary relations between Pakistan and other countries. The Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) has proposed various initiatives, including organizing literary festivals, book exhibitions, and conferences/seminars to promote literature and culture. PAL’s suggestions aim to foster a deeper appreciation of literary arts and encourage cultural exchange between the nations.
The signing of these agreements signifies the commitment of Pakistan to promote sports, arts, and literature on an international scale. The agreements are expected to bolster cultural ties, create opportunities for artistic expression, and foster mutual understanding and appreciation among the nations involved.
